Faith leader, what’s your number one source of stress? If you’re like most people right now, your number one stressor is probably finances.1 Not only do you have to make wise financial decisions in your personal life, but you lead your house of worship’s financial decisions, too.
With predictions of an economic recession on the horizon, Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. (a stock insurer)¹ and Duke Divinity School hosted Financial Freedom Oct. 13 to provide faith leaders with help in the financial realm.
We learned from Reverend Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr., who launched the dfree® Financial Freedom Movement in 2005. dfree® is a strategy that teaches people how to break free from debt as a first step toward financial freedom. He is the author of the books “Say Yes to No Debt: 12 Steps to Financial Freedom” and “Meditations for Financial Freedom – Volumes 1&2.” Dr. Soaries has also served as the senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) in Somerset, New Jersey, since November 1990. His pastoral ministry focuses on spiritual growth, educational excellence and economic empowerment.
